To raise a puppy to be a service dog, the owner/trainer needs to give them a variety of experiences. Disney parks are popular outings for these puppies-in-training -- the crowds, the smells, the excitement, the strange-looking characters who still smell like humans...
Sparrow is a Golden Retriever whose owners/trainers are tracking her training progress on Instagram and sharing it with the world. After a long day at Disney World, Sparrow got to meet Chewbacca and it was love at first sight.
Normally she is not allowed to interact with people so she will stay focused on her owner. But when she had a chance to meet the world's most famous wookie, her owner made an exception.
With approximately 250 puppies born in the spring, Southeastern Guide Dogs is seeking volunteers to raise puppies who will become the next generation of service and guide dogs. They are based in Florida. Further information.
Serving Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington, Guide Dogs for the Blind welcomes volunteers to raise puppies. Further information
