While dogs aren’t usually the object of their searches, the team recognized that if they didn’t try to rescue the dogs, someone else might try and that person might get stuck and need to be rescued. The Mission SAR volunteers would have to go out anyway.
When the team found them, the two female dogs were skinny but in good shape. There were signs that they were recently being cared for, suggesting they may have been abandoned in the area by their owner.
They were so excited to see us,” said volunteer Roger Williams. “They started getting excited, moving around too much, and we just caught them in the jackets. They fell right to us.”
Williams soon found himself in puppy love.
Rescued and rescuers formed an immediate connection. He and another member of the team determined to adopt them. When no one claimed them they were rescued again.
Though the sisters will be going to different homes, they’ll be sure to have play dates. Some of the play dates will most certainly be at the Search and Rescue clubhouse in Mission.
How could anyone abandon those precious babies. They are so beautiful.

It made me sad to think these dogs were crying for days before anyone attempted to rescue them, but I'm glad it ended well.

Charlee: "Purrs to those humans for rescuing those sweet puppies!"
Chaplin: "And hisses to whoever abandoned them!"
Charlee: "But then more purrs to the rescuers for adopting them!"
Chaplin: "That's two purrs to one hiss. I guess the purrs win."
