Of course, it would be so much better to train some shelter dogs to sniff out contraband. I hope they make this happen in all prisons.

The contraband has to arrive in prisons with the help of some of the guards and other staff. Those persons will also thwart the dogs from being successful. Or, maybe I watch too much TV:-)

Yes, but there aren't companies out there making gazillions of dollars off contraband sniffing dogs. Of course they'd try the expensive option first.

might pay the guards more so they won't be tempted to look the other way when contraband is making it's way in.


People can be bribed. Can you bribe a dog to not do a job it's instinctually programmed to do?
