Among the 94 participants in Australia’s Ellery Brookman Goldfields Pipeline Half Marathon was a stray dog named Stormy.
Stormy ran around introducing himself to all the runners before the race and then joined them at the starting line.
He hit every checkpoint and finished with an estimated time of 2:30 — good enough for a top 70 finish. He earned a medal for running 13.1 miles despite having little short stumpy legs.
He was arrested and taken to doggie jail for being a stray. He was sentenced to seven days in doggie jail waiting for his owner to pick him up.
Unfortunately there is no owner.
Organizers were told the good boy is a year-old resident of the community who knows everyone in town but doesn’t have a single owner.
If no one claims the friendly little Marathoner he will be up for adoption.
If you’re worried about him and are wanting to hitchhike to Australia, you haven’t read many The Poodle and Dog Blog posts. He already has countless of the runners lined up to give him a home if no one turns up to claim him.
Any dog with Stormy’s accomplishments and publicity has people standing in line to give him a forever home.
