The Japanese love their techno toys and they take body odor very seriously. So they have come up with ways to combine the two.
They have an app that tells you if your armpits need attention. A female robot checks for halitosis.
And next will come a robot puppy that smells your feet.
The cute pup has an odor sensor for a nose. When all is well smell-wise, it wags its tail and looks cute. But it starts barking at slightly stinky toes. When the feet reek, it will faint to the tune of Chopin's funeral march.
Next Technology, the company, will release the robot known as Hana-chan early next year.
At 100,000 yen ($905), it isn’t cheap, but still it will save the embarrassment of having stinky foot odor—although it might offend guests that can’t pass the robot’s odor sensor.
That might be important in a country where shoes are not worn in the house and companies host seminars on "smell harassment."
