Dogs have superior hearing but it seems that there are some dogs with a supernatural, sixth sense gift for finding trouble. Sort of real life Lassies.
This happened a few weeks ago and somehow the information got hidden away in another file before I could publish it. But we think hero dogs like Peanut deserve all the coverage they can get.
A dog arrived at the Delta Animal Shelter in Escanaba, Michigan almost a year ago with two broken legs and broken ribs. Her former owner was recently convicted of animal abuse.
The dog, Peanut, now healthy and living in a loving home, started going crazy around 11 one morning according to her new owner--
She was running up and down the stairs, barking and yelping. She then went and got my husband, who was in the garage working on some projects, and alerted him that she wanted to go outside. He said he could hear her running around upstairs but didn’t understand why.
He let her outside where she went barreling into the field behind our house at full speed. My husband followed her and to his surprise, he found a naked, shivering, 3 year old girl curled up in a ball. He scooped her up, wrapped her in his sweatshirt, and brought her inside. He called 911 and reported the incident.
What happened next was even more heartbreaking.
By the time the ambulance and police arrived, the little girl could only say one thing – ‘doggie.'
She was taken to a hospital where she was found to be uninjured. Her parents were located at a nearby residence, which the County Sheriff’s Office described as having “unsafe and unsanitary living conditions.” The girl and another young girl at the house are now in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Oh! The dog knew and understood exactly what was happening and going on. What a wonderful dog! Thank heavens for the now safety of those little girls!

There are three happy endings here. Peanut and the two little girls. The hero, though, is Peanut.

This is such a sad story. The boys covered it on the BFTB news. The pup is definitely a hero. ♥

Holy smokes, thank Dog for Peanut! Can you imagine if he hadn't alerted to that child. She could have died, or been found by her parents and continue to live in that hell hole.
