The tiny town of Cormorant, Minnesota (population around 1000 happy people) has re-elected 9-year-old Duke for a third time as the leader of the town.
The vote was held over the weekend during the annual Cormorant Daze festival. The electorate was required to pay $1 each in order to cast their ballot.
He won in a landslide, winning all the votes but one for his girl friend, Lassie.. Everyone loves Duke who has done so much for the community, according to his owner and political strategist.
Duke appears on three billboards leading into the town promoting it as the place “Where Friends Gather.”
Duke may be the most popular politician in the country. First because he is a dog and who doesn't love big fluffy dogs. He won’t make promises he can’t keep and he won’t make speeches.
It is not known if he has future political ambitions, but his strategist and media people suggested that a doggie door to the governor’s mansion or the White House might be in order.
