How cool is this?
Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley walked into a local shelter with his girl friend and a teammate. He said: "We are looking for a dog that's been here a long time and maybe not so adoptable."
Not so adoptable can mean several things that might make someone overlook a dog: they’re old, they have a medical problem or they’re not good looking physically.
After seeing several dogs, they decided on Winter. Not much is known about 6-year-old Winter except that she has had a harsh life.
She was found on a hot day with no food or water in an abandoned house with no electricity or open windows. She was dehydrated and terrified when they found her. She has a hanging stomach, probably from being over bred. At her age it is not something that will tighten up.
That didn’t stop Ronnie from falling in love. He told the volunteers, "Well, that's just what happens when you've had babies."
Winter left the shelter with a new family and a new life.
