The staff at Anderson Community Hospital is used to seeing injured people walking into the emergency room at all hours. But they were more than a little surprised when a dog limped straight in at around 5 am with a leg injury as if he knew he was in the right place.
They comforted the friendly little dog before taking him to a veterinarian. But first they got a picture for their Facebook page.
It didn’t take long for the picture to get to the dog’s owner, Nick Karagianis.
According to Karagianis, he was walking 1-year-old Capone when he got off work around 1:30 am. The leash got wrapped around a utility pole, his collar came off and Capone was off on a doggie grand adventure. Karagianis said he had been working long hours and hadn't given Capone enough exercise.
He tried to find the black dog in the darkness but had to give up. Early the next morning he saw the picture of Capone on Facebook surrounded by the ER staff. He wrote:
Thank you sooooo much to the community hospital team for taking care of my baby boy!!! I’m just waiting to pick him up. I was worried sick about him thank you again!!!
The veterinarian thought Capone had been hit by a car since he had non serious injuries on his left side. He is making a full recovery.
And how great is this? The ER staff couldn't help with Capone's injuries but they are paying the vet bills.
