Where New York sports writers’ panties usually are.
This is their latest outrage...
New Yankees pitching star Masahira Tanaka spent $195,000 for a one-way trip aboard a Japan Airlines Dreamliner jet to take him, his wife, his Poodle Haru, and a couple of pals from their homeland Japan to New York.
The Boeing 787 fits up to 186 passengers.
The 25-year-old Tanaka signed a 7-year, $155 million contract with the Yankees. Which means that it will take him less than a game and a half to earn back the cost of the flight.
Hey, his money, his Poodle.
Although Haru didn’t realize how lucky he was not to have to ride in a small container in the baggage area for many hours, he seemed to enjoy the flight.
According to Tanaka’s wife Mai Satoda, a pop star in Japan, “I think he’s rather tired . . . But I’m relieved that he’s eating and toileting OK.”
