The Golden Poodle award goes to Pesto, the black Lab puppy who was raised to be a guide dog. But when he inexplicably failed his final exam in guide dog school, he got to go back to live with the two little boys who had loved him and needed him.
The Lizard Brain award goes to the U.S. government weather bureau (CPC) which predicted last fall that the temperatures across much of the lower 48 would be above normal this winter.
The Old Farmer’s Almanac which has been around for 175 years got it right.
The Neanderthal award goes to the worst public relations move of the century by the official (if this really happened) who ordered stray dogs in Sochi to be killed.
It should be noted that the man who prominently micro-managed the Sochi Olympics is a consummate animal lover who once said, “…the better I know people, the more I like dogs.”
If such an official existed, he will probably not be heard from again.
