Leonard Somers could easily have died after falling into a ravine and hitting a frozen tree trunk while skiing in the back country. The trunk punctured his neck and caused spinal injuries that paralyzed his legs.
His Husky, Juneau, left his side just long enough to get the attention of other skiers and lead them to his owner.
“I don’t know if God was reaching out through her or something bigger was playing out,” said Somers. “She knew I needed help. She helped me dig out and laid on me to keep me warm until help came.”
Somers' legs remain paralyzed, but without the help of Juneau, he knows it could have been much worse. Story and video
