Nine-year-old Fifi the Chihuahua and Bashar the python were brought together by their owner, professional belly-dancer, Paula Staunton, 48, from Merseyside, England.
She uses Fifi, Bashar and another python, Xena, in her performances.
She had hoped they would get along, but nothing prepared her for the bond of friendship she says they have developed. Fifi begs for Bashar to be let out of his tank so they can cuddle and sleep together. Staunton says it is like a "human love affair."
Staunton feeds Bashar defrosted mice once a week and Fifi has begun catching live ones for him.
Staunton said, “Snakes aren't the slimy, creepy, nasty things people think they are; they can be very loving and caring. When they crawl over you they give you little hugs.” From the Daily Mail
While that may be true, Bashar is still a snake, a creature not capable of human-like emotions. It might be in Fifi’s best interest to keep him well fed as he grows.
Does that look like a Chihuahua happy face?
