Israeli artist Nirit Levav has chosen a unique medium for her sculptures, old bicycle chains.
After graduating from art school, she spent years specializing in her bridal gown brand, but she felt she couldn’t satisfy her creative urge in that field.
While she worked at her father’s theatre set workshops she developed skills in metal cutting and welding. Her father taught her that nothing that could be upcycled into something new should ever be sent to rot in a landfill.
When she visited a bicycle shop to search for discarded materials (known as junk to most of us) she discovered a box of old bicycle chains. They were perfect for her series of dog sculptures.
These adorable puppies make you want to hug them…except for that cold metal thing they've got going on.
