“He is a good dog and beautiful,” Chavez told a Russian delegation. “I’m going to call him Russian.”
To thank President Chavez for signing an agreement with Russia to tap new oil fields in Venezuela, Putin gave him a three-month-old black terrier puppy.

I've heard of people giving Putin animals (a Caucasian Ovcharka puppy, a pony, etc.) but I hadn't yet heard of him giving puppies out himself. I can like Putin for his animal love; it's the other details that are severely problematic....

Just because you love to make big media gestures involving animals doesn't mean you are kind to them when no one is watching.

I have never been crazy about animals being given as pets like this. You never know what happens to them after the photographs are done.
