I continue to get many emails and comments on some of my old posts about PETA from people who want to enlighten me about their virtues.
Some have questions about why I am beating up on PETA because they “do a lot of good for animals.”
I suspect many are young girls who have no idea what PETA has in mind for their little doggie or kitty if they had their way.
"Run free, little Fluffy, untll we get you, then we will kill you."
Thanks to Pam for this link that clearly explains why PETA is your pets’ worst enemy. And an enemy to those of us who care about the welfare of pets.
PETA was founded by Ingrid Newkirk, who is profiled by Nathan Winograd in “The Butcher of Norfolk.” This post explains a lot about the deeply disturbed woman who has formulated the beliefs that guide the organization. I have to wonder how many of the nearly nude "lettuce ladies" or the publicity seeking "celebrities" are aware of their founder's proclivities.
The publicity stunts they pull, such as wanting to erect memorials to dead cows who have been killed in highway accidents, do nothing to promote serious causes of animal welfare. Instead of using their millions to work toward No Kill shelters or to try to save the animals they take in, they continue to have the highest kill rate of all.
PETA lawyers are always threatening to sue someone for defamation, but it’s hard to bring a suit against someone who has the facts on their side. Like the HSUS, they prefer to ignore the facts and make personal attacks on their critics.
Of course, these animal rights groups never let facts get in the way of a good fundraising, lobbying, or publicity effort.

The reason I support PETA is that I find that those that complain the loudest about them are those that benefit from putting them out of business, namely the breeder and factory farm industries. I don't agree with all they do, but I'd rather team up with them and do good for animals than not team up with them and watch millions of animals continue to suffer.

Keep on putting out the facts Jan. Eventually rational people will do their homework and "get" it. For the rest of the bunch, it's sort of like trying to explain reality to the average Tea Party Republican. (I used to be a Republican back when they were a real political party, but I'm closing in on 60 so that's been awhile).

I agree! If everyone would work with no kill shelters more could be accomplished than what PETA does. Keep up your good work, Jan!!

The larger any organization gets the less accountable it is. People assume they know what the group is doing because they're so big and are good at getting a message out.

I always thought that PETA stood for People Eating Tasty Animals :P Personally, I can't stand them.

It's sad how many people buy into their propaganda without doing the research.
