A Golden Poodle award goes to Lada the Rottweiler who was left in the park with their 3-month-old baby, Vadim, by her owner, Olga, while she went drinking with her buddies and forgot them until the morning. Instead of going off on a doggie adventure, Lada stayed and protected the baby.
A second Golden Poodle award goes to Christopher Vogt who is serving a 48 year prison term for murder. While in prison he became a certified master dog trainer who has taught other prisoners how to train dogs. Now he is trusted enough to work with both the dog and the person who will receive the service dog.
The Neanderthal award goes to those who, in spite of all the warnings, lock their dogs in hot cars during the summer. Whether they are just totally self involved or have an undeveloped cerebrum, it is inexcusable to condemn a dog to being boiled.
The Lizard brain award goes to anyone who frightens a family dog by thrusting a helpless baby at him. Since the people who posted the video on YouTube took it off, perhaps they realized that this is not a smart way to introduce dogs and babies. Perhaps they just had a lapse in judgment and will use the higher orders of their brain from now on.
Unfortunately stories like this recently from Virginia do happen with trusted family dogs.

Bravo to the winners of the Golden Poodle award. Hiss to the winners of the other two awards. The latter group should be ashamed of themselves.

Both Golden Poodles are well deserved. Vogt is an amazing example of how prisons should be, places of reform and education, not just a form of punishment.

I was in Lowe's earlier in June waiting in line to buy plants in the nursery. After a few minutes pass the lady behind me asks, "Do you think it's too hot for my dog in the car?" My head slowly rotates in her direction on my shoulders with my eyes slightly bugged out. I say firmly, "YES! Go now and get your dog. I'll hold your place in line." She heads out and looks back at me... I say, "GO!" She walks faster. Fortunately, it was one of those cooler days. In she comes with her cute dog and resumes her place in line.

Good for you. Some people need to be told what is the right thing to do.

I like your lizard brain award. That video almost gave me an anxiety attack...what worries me is so far as I know, that family still has the dog and baby...xx

Lada is an awesome dog! That is really cool that she lover her baby enough to stay (and it clearly is Lada's baby since the Mom is such a bozo.)
