Sun Spot, a 20-foot tall metal dog sculpture, is the first official resident of the soon to be open Denver Animal Shelter.
The steel skelton is covered with over 90,000 stainless steel dog tags. It took large cranes and a lot of human muscle to erect the statue.
Commissioned as part of the Denver Public Art Program, the sculpture was created by artists Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan to resemble a friendly “every dog.”

Very cool! I wonder if they are recycled dog tags? Did owners send them in?

I got the idea they were all new. I can't imagine collecting that many recycled ones.

Close to 500 man hours on just the tag installation alone. This was a large, but interesting project start to finish. The tags are all brand new, stainless steel, and blank.
