A rescue group, Dogs Deserve Better, has raised the 30% down payment required by the bank to close the loan today on Michael Vick’s infamous dog fighting estate in Virginia. They hope to open mid-July.
They plan to build a facility to house and rehabilitate 300-500 dogs a year when it is complete.
They are still fundraising to pay for the remainder of the mortgage, to build a fence around the property and to install temporary housing for dogs while they build the facility.
Just a suggestion, but this might be a good time and place for an Eagles quarterback and his cronies at HSUS to contribute some of their millions. Karma and all.
It could happen when pigs… you know…

A million dollars would be pocket change for vick and hsus, but it would be every thing for a dog rescue.

This is such a heartwarming story for dog lovers and animal rights people everywhere. I consider myself both. Here's hoping they get the funds for the mortgage. Maybe hold some fundraisers at local pet shelters.
