April’s Golden Poodle awards go to dogs who survive against all odds:
Ban who survived the Japanese earthquake and was rescued from the top of a floating house after three weeks at sea; Rusty who survived a plane crash that killed his owner; Patch who survived a tornado and landed miles from home; Mia who survived a house fire by emerging herself in a bathtub.
And it goes to Ducky, the tough little blue-eyed Terrier who had his snout duct taped by two Neanderthals who dumped him along a road in Allegany County, Maryland.
The other dogs have families who love them. Hundreds of people want to adopt Ducky, but it may take him a while to learn trust.
Even with his snout taped shut, for a week the terrified little guy managed to elude a massive dragnet of various police agencies, rescuers, and volunteers following sightings around the area on his Facebook page.
Because he bit an ACO in fear when he was first brought in, he had to be isolated to be sure he didn't have rabies.
While at a veterinariy hospital, Ducky gained five pounds and now has been transferred to the Ark of Hope Rescue where he will continue to be socialized and loved.
Ducky has a new Facebook page, Ducky’s Law, where followers are gaining support for harsher penalties for animal cruelty. Cases like Ducky’s strike a serious chord with dog lovers and bring them together in a common cause.
The Neanderthal award goes to Ricky Allen Adams, 25, and Frederick
Newton Lease, 27, of Cumberland who were soon arrested on animal cruelty charges.
If convicted, Adams and Lease face maximum penalties of 90 days in jail and/or fines of up to $1,000. They have been released on bail awaiting a court appearance in late May. There is a possibility for further charges, including felony offenses.

I'd like to tape their asses shut and feed them prunes and cayenne pepper.

I saw the reports on Ban, what a sweetie. And of course Ducky, I sure hope finds the best home with lots of love.

Poor pup. I hope he can get past the abuse.
In addition to their punishment,
those cretins deserve to have their mouths duct taped shut while they watch people indulging themselves at banquet tables of delicious food.

Poor guy, he deserves it! Cruelty on animals should not be tolerated in this world!
