Only two weeks ago Stacey Champion (39) was quietly leading a life in Minneapolis, with no criminal or mental health issues, interested only in men and getting her food stamps, according to her Facebook wall.
Now if you Google her name and city, you will get 12,700 results from all over the world…and counting.
Some poor lady in Arizona with the same name and age who once lived in Minneapolis is appealing to people to stop sending her hate mail. She has even changed her name on Facebook to "Stacey 'nopuppymailing' Champion."
The Minneapolis Stacey’s excuse seemed to be that there were no signs telling her she couldn’t mail a puppy. However she did ask the postal workers to be careful with the package because it was delicate. And if they heard sounds it was from a toy robot for her son’s 11th birthday.
To assure that she stayed in the news even longer, she asked to have her priority mail postage refunded and to get Guess the puppy and the mailing box back. She said she put in a water bottle, but none was found. The air holes had been taped over.
She lost custody in a preliminary hearing, but she could appeal the decision to be determined at her February 28 court date. The box will be kept as evidence.
Adoption of Guess is on hold until Champion either gives up the puppy or the court rules against her. Story and video

I feel sorry for Champion's dog and her child/children. Imagine if your mom was a Darwin's Award finalist...

At least her son is several states away from her.
Thanks for the Facebook reference, Cube. People shouldn't post anything there that they don't want the world to see, especially if they are going to get international infamy.

Sometimes I think there needs to be an intelligence test for animal and child-rearing and if you fail, you don't get to have either. That poor dog!

This person tried to mail her dog and "She said she put in a water bottle, but none was found. The air holes had been taped over."
Holy Cow! that is seriously disturbing! I can't believe that someone would try to mail a dog! Perhaps she really hates dogs and wanted to do away with it. Who was she sending it to, I wonder?
She can figure out facebook but she doesn't have the sense to look after a pet. Incredible.

seems she's not as well wrapped as the package.

I wonder if the woman has some issues. Her responses to the judge were odd.

Why would she want the puppy back, if she was trying to mail it away? I guess she wants to get some money for it, (esp. if she's worried about recouping the cost of the mailing box.) More importantly, why would anyone ever ever ever consider giving her the puppy back?

I don't think this woman was too stupid to figure out that one shouldn't mail a live puppy the way she was attempting. Had she not been discovered before the fact, she could've sued the USPS for killing the puppy she was sending her little boy for his birthday.
This should be a wake up call to the good people in the world regarding the litigious people who live among us and are looking for anything, no matter how frivolous, to sue us for.

Her poor son, that would have been terrible if he opened the box and found a dead puppy. Happy Birthday?

Put her ass in a box, load her in the cargo hold of a C-130 and drop her stupid ass somehwere over Iran!
