Bear, a two-year-old Patterdale Terrier, and his owner, Bryan Rapoza, went every place together.
Bear had been at work with Rapoza on Tuesday the day he disappeared from a suburb of Sacramento. On Thursday Rapoza got a call from the Humane Society in Tacoma that Bear had been found wandering the streets.
Although Bear’s collar and identifying tags had been removed, he was immediately identified by the microchip. Rapozo happily made the 13 hour drive from California to Washington to retrieve his lost friend.
Yet another real life commercial for the microchip.

That is quite far. Too bad in our country (I live in Latvia, Europe) only use of microchip is to check dogs identify before dog shows. There is no united registry of those microchip numbers. But let's hope it'll change soon as we can see from here - microchip is a lifesaver.

Wow, that's some distance! I'm so glad Bear is well and has been reunited with his owner. Those microchips are fantastic!!
Such a lovely story to read this morning, Jan, thank you!

720 miles?!
Your post reminds me that we need to have Gus's microchip checked the next time we're at the vet.

Yep I chipped my dog. DH hubby didn't want to spend the money, but there are ways to convince them. :D

Sounds like someone tried to dognap him, but Bear got away.

Great story - microchips are so incredible, I'd better get my dog fitted out with one ... just in case.

720 miles is a long way from home. The microchip sure made a difference. I wonder how he was able to travel so far by himself? That's crazy far.
