We have showed you irrefutable evidence that dogs can detect evil forces hiding in ordinary household items. But what about cats?
I have more questions than answers on this subject. Although I am fluent in dog, I don’t speak cat or understand cats.
I have written before about the juvenile calico that came up to me in my front yard a few years ago and chose me.
“I don’t want you. I have four dogs and I don’t want a cat.”
“Irrelevant.”
“I will feed you, then you must leave.”
“Oh, yeah, that’s how it works.”
For a while I tried to make her attractive to an adopter. My methods included:
- Putting up FREE CAT signs with a poetic description
- Having her vaccinated and wormed
- Socializing her with my dogs (They’re basically friendly wimps so it took about 20 minutes and one paw swipe on a nose)
- Buying a litter box and litter
- Having her spayed
- Fnally giving her a permanent name.
(Someone had written on my FREE CAT sign at work: “Makes good taco meat,” so she was called Taco Meat for several weeks. When I took her in to be spayed, they did not see the humor, so I shortened it to Taki.)
Finally I accepted what everyone else knew. I did not want to give the cat away. It was a good decision. She has been a joy.
For a little street smart cat she could not be more affectionate. Taki will crawl into my lap when I am watching TV and purr softly while I caress her.
But then…here’s the thing that totally freaks me out. Sometimes she will suddenly raise her head up and look over my shoulder with an expression of total horror on her face.
What?
If I turn around what will be there? The Grim Reaper? A zombie? A vampire? A dust mote?
Does she see something evil in an alternate universe?
Or is she just messing with me?

OMG. one of my cats does this, I have 3. I thought she was a witch cat

Maybe she's afraid someone is coming to take HER away. Sounds like she's found a great home and that would be horrible.

hahahaha! your adoption methods sound like exactly what a person would do if they were keeping the cat! well, except for the posters.
we don't understand cats either, so we don't know about that other dimension thing. maybe we can chanse the neighbor's cat into another dimension and we'll get back to you.

She's a cat... if it was something evil, she would not be horrified -- she'd GRIN!

I wish I could have seen the faces of the people in the vet's office when you said Taco Meat was her name!

A story with a happy ending. Maybe she's just remembering her past

Taco Meat ---> Taki. Genius.
That would freak me out too. Gus will sometimes jerk upright in the middle of the night with an alarmed look on his face. He has no problems falling back asleep. I lay there, wide awake, waiting for someone to murder me. :)

Cats are secretive, all knowing sometimes and Taki absolutely found you. Izzy found us so we could get his tail fixed and he wanted a heated bed, SweetPea found us so we could take care of her babies. All of my cats channel things, people and experiences.....sadly I'm not fluent in cat either; I just let them run the place and ask no questions. Hi Jan....long time no comment but I am still around.

My cats do this too. I have to agree with Jackie - she's messing with you and getting a good kitty chuckle out of the whole thing.

I love that line, "Irrelevant." hehe! For someone who doesn't speak cat, it sounds like you're doing a great job with Taki.

I like the name Taki - cute! Our cats do that sometimes too. It always freaks me out - what do they see that I don't?!?

I think they see and know more that we do.

I have an adopted stray cat who could not be a better pet. No one should ever fear adopting a stray!!

Is this a poll? My vote is for alternate dimension. Taki clearly sees things we mere humans cannot.

My cat Scout does "the face." I think he sees shadows I can't quite see or hears noises I can't quite hear. Or he's a bit nutty. If he's messing with me, it works.

Hi All, I honestly believe they can see
some things other-wordly as my cat Butterfly
not only looks over my shoulders, transfixed by something but then starts opening and closing her eyes slowly as if to show friendliness/no fear which I doubt she would feel the need with a microscopic insect or dust particle.
