While four million animals are killed in shelters each year, 6570 American veterans commit suicide. That is 18 a day who are suffering so much mental anguish that life is not worth living.
This is a powerful video narrated by soldiers who have found a savior, a four legged friend to help them cope with life.

And that's why we're supporters of Paws and Stripes http://www.pawsandstripes.org/ - what could be better than saving dogs and veterans at the same time?

What a great pairing! My question is, why stop at just one dog... two are even better.

I'd never heard of a trauma dog before. This sounds like the most wonderful use of unwanted pets to save the lives of people who feel hopeless.

The power of a dog should never be underestimated ... I wish this happened everywhere - the world would be a much better place! :)
... and so many dogs (and people) would be saved.

Awesome find! Animals can work wonders for people suffering from PTSD. Both of the soldiers said that they tell their dogs things that they would not tell anyone else. For the price of a can of dog food a day, they have the best therapists in the world!!
