A day that starts this way has got to get better.
The call was made just after midnight by [name] from the Sacramento Police Department about my “recent traffic stop” and do I still have the [he described my car] and do I know where the car is? Please call him at [##] and reference log number [#].
Surely the car hadn’t slipped out by itself and done something naughty. I checked the garage and all was as I had left it.
I have never had a traffic stop in Sacramento and I knew where my car was. But one doesn’t just ignore a message from a police department. I called the number on the email. It rang and rang.
Deducing that the Sacramento Police Department would probably answer their phone, I listened again to the voicemail. It was a different number from the one on the email. So I called that number and naturally got the dreaded recorded menu. There was no option for “returning a call” so I pressed 9 for “all other calls.”
“All other calls” was busy serving other callers but would take calls in the order they were placed. [I wait…and wait] It turned out that “all other calls” was a very popular number but it was not part of the police department. He connected me to the police department. Back to the dreaded recorded menu.
This time I chose “detectives.” When “detectives” finally gave me my turn [in the order received], she made me explain several times why I was calling. She had no idea what this was about even with the log number, but she would see what she could find out.
After a long wait she came back on and said that it was a mistake, I should disregard it. She had no interest in explaining what it was all about. Can I get back the 25 minutes of my life that I spent on this?
So after that experience, I need something calming and comforting. I find this video on corded Poodles strangely calming and comforting.

Hope this is the end of it and the Detective didn't say what you wanted to hear to get you off the phone

You are definitely not crazy. I think they are beautiful too, but so much work.

You'd think they could at least apologize. But no.

That's the kind of phone call that scares the heck out of me. The detective basically saying nevermind at the end doesn't make the anxiety go away that easily.
The dogs were so well behaved... not at all like my girls.

What a horrible experience - no wonder you needed some relaxation after that.
