I can’t resist a story about a Poodle even if it includes a really embarrassing picture of him.
After missing for 549 days from his home in Essex, England, Archie the Toy Poodle was found wandering the streets of Oxford 100 miles from home. Dog wardens were able to scan his microchip and return him to Chris and Julie Moran and their daughter, Kelly.
He had gone missing while the family spent a holiday in France in July, 2009. Although they hurried back to England, they found no trace of their dog until they got the call from Oxford.
Archie was in serious need of grooming, but he wasn’t malnourished or injured.
Where Archie has been will be forever a mystery, but, knowing how smart Poodles are, Chris Moran joked that maybe he wanted to study for a degree at Oxford. The story

Somebody must have been taking care of him. That's not 500 days of hair growth. My poodle looks like that a about the 6 week mark.

That's quite incredible - I wonder what he got up to?
Microchips are amazing things, and certainly helped little Archie out.

Glad it worked out for Archie and his family. It's a story that makes the case for microchipping your pet.
I think future chips will have GPS tracking capability so that we can pinpoint the lost pet's location. Hey, it can happen.

So glad Archie was reunited, thinking of him out there lost and missing his family is so sad. Glad they had the microchip. And I hope Archie got that grooming!

Wow. That is a long time and is pretty amazing. One time our black lab/rot decided to talk a long walk and was picked up by the local SPCA and they were able to track us down because of his chip.

Archie does look like a ragamuffin in that picture. But cute!

Definitely looks like a less-than-500-day hair growth (TaiChi frequently looked like that in the winter!), so whoever had him had the courage to return him to his rightful owners. Fantastic on all fronts!!!

I love it when you tell happy dog stories.

I lost my little toy poodle for five days once. When I got him home I took him immediately off to be microchipped -- not that that would have helped at the time; he was on the run in the woods on the other side of a very busy road. I put signs everywhere. Plenty of people spotted him, and phoned me, but he was young and ran like a bullet, and no one could catch him.
So glad Archie was reunited with his family!

I used to have my puppies AKC regestration number tattooed inside their thigh, but now microchipping is the way to go.
