Three years ago we covered the Super Catcher, a product developed in Taiwan. Before the dog walk, a series of straps and buckles go on the dog in 26 (yes!) steps to hold a bucket.
The bucket goes under the dog’s butt (presumably he doesn’t notice it) and catches the poop before it reaches the ground.
It didn’t seem to catch on in my neighborhood.
Julie Pilas, 59, owner of a pet supply store, has a new idea for dealing with the problem. The Catch-it is designed to catch the poop before it hits the ground.
“You will not see, smell, or touch the pet’s waste,” according to the website.
She has a patent on the Catch-it which consists of a disposable bag attached to the end of a long handle. A lever opens and closes the bag. There is even a flashlight for use at night.
- How do you use the Catch-it? As the dog begins to take the stance to eliminate you simply hit the lever to open the bag, place the bottom of the Catch-it under the pet and after the pet's waste drops into the bag hit the lever again to close it.
She is testing the first prototypes, but is currently taking orders on her website. They are selling for $30.
I would think exact timing and skillful maneuvering is of the essence. Walking multiple dogs would present some real challenges.
And presumably the dogs won’t mind that you’re goosing them with a long pole.
Is the Catch-it what you have been waiting for?

jeez..if people get any more lazy they'll be hiring someone to poop for them.

Tucker does the walk-n-poop where he keeps moving around while he's doing #2. So I am not confident that this would work for us.

All my dogs are like Tucker. I'm not chasing them around with one of these. I have the bio bags that come in a little dispenser that attaches to the leash. That works just fine. All my local parks have plenty of trash cans all around (and even have their own bio bag dispensers) and it's no problem carring it home if it's a stroll around the neighborhood.

I can tell you right now, Daisy and Sammy are both neurotic when it comes to the act of pooping in public. (By public I mean on walks or at the dog park. "Private" encompasses the entire back yard and, for some reason, part of the living room.)
If either of them noticed I was observing them in the act of pooping, much less holding a little cup under their bums, they would instantly become constipated. Which might not be a bad thing, come to think of it.

My German shepherd does the poop-n-walk like Dennis the Vizla commented about Tucker, but, even with the Dobie who stands still while she poops, I don't think the device would be any good for anything but as a constipation-inducer. That means that I will find that poop later on in my house!

And all this crap was dreamed up by Obama's dog poop czar?
If we could just catch their political chit before it hit the ground?

i don't think i'll waste my $$. what's so terrible about picking it up in a plastic bag?

And it has a flashlight for when you go for walkies at night. I'll just use the poo bags and avoid holding a leash AND a giant stick when I take Jersey out.

One of my neighbors used to crouch behind her dog, with a bag stretched out under it's behind. Looked hilarious, but it worked.

Wow! That sounds like way too much effort. Do people really have this much trouble picking up after their dogs? I know it isn't that big of a deal for me. Go figure! :)

I think Sadie, Coco and I will stick with the nasty old poop and scoop.

You know back in December my dad invented this very thing. BUT it was to catch urine from his dog for frequent urine tests when his dog was ill. He wasn't going to let them repeated stick a needle in her for urine.

Quite the contrary to all these comments. The Catch-it works very well and it is Environmentally Friendly too...something our Twenty First Century world needs more of. But don't take my word for it...look and see for yourself! www.thecatchitwastecollector.com
