The 2010 NYC Chihuahua Pageant results

Some of you may not have been aware that the Annual New York City Chihuahua Pageant was held this weekend.

There were three categories to the competition:

• Street Chihuahua went to the dog with the best casual wear
• Bowwow Talent to the dog with the best talent
• The Bling Award for the best formal wear  





In the end it was Spidey and his owner Rick Caran (center) who took home the grand prize.

Spidey was also the winner of the talent portion of the competition. He demonstrated the art of pushing a cart across the floor and also gave advice on how to train a dog to do the trick.

Although not everyone got a prize, everyone had a lot of fun with their dogs and raised money for dog charities. The story and slide show

When I was a kid I used to dress up my dog, Poochy, but she always looked more sheepish than doggish. I hope the Chihuahuas like getting dressed up.

Did the Street Chihuahua wear his pants down below his butt? I guess that's kind of hard for a dog to pull off...

Anyway, thanks for that post. To this day, I have a soft spot for Chihuahuas because I had one for 8 years and she was a wonderful dog. It's been many decades since her passing, but I still miss her. OK, now you got me all misty thinking about the Rainbow Bridge. *sniff*

I'm sort of surprised that was not a televised event, coming from NYC. It appears to be quite a gala. Kudo's to the winners and owners.
