When gas prices shot up to more than $4 a gallon, Ray bought the scooter for better mileage.
“When I got back from my maiden trip, she put her little paws on the running board like, ‘Daddy, I don’t know what this thing is but I want to go with you.’”

David Grounds of West Palm Beach, Florida showed another kind of puppy love when his 7-year-old Wheaten Terrier, Mandy, was attacked by an alligator next to a pond near his home.
As Grounds, 65, watched helplessly, the seven foot alligator clamped onto Mandy’s midsection and began thrashing.
Grounds grabbed the alligator’s mouth while he poked in its eye with his thumb, forcing the beast to relax its grip on Mandy long enough for her to escape. Then suddenly it snapped at Grounds biting off two of his fingers.
“I'd do it again,” he said, further stating there was no way he was going to let the alligator eat his dog.
Mandy was treated for a stomach laceration and released from the animal hospital the same day. Grounds, however, has to remain at the people hospital for a couple more days as a precaution against infection. Source

so, it was only a flesh wound, eh?

I agree with Mr Grounds. The lost digits are a small price to pay for the life of your pup. But I'd definitely have some alligator boots out of the deal!

In a way you have to feel for the alligator. He thought he was getting a nice plump terrier and all he ended up with was some finger food. Barely even a snack!

i'd give up 2 of my fingers if annie would just quit peeing and pooping all over my apt.

I'd hate to lose a few digits, but I'd like to think I'd get the better of the gator, save my dog AND my fingers. I guess I'm a hopeless dreamer. Of course my pup weighs ~100 lbs. so a gator might not be so willing to take her on :-)

i would do the same thing to save my dogs from an attack. no second thought.
i love the scooter. i would love to have one too, but calculated that it would take about 12 years to offset the gas $ savings. oh well, it would be pretty fun anyway. i doubt if i could fit the 4Bs on one though.
