We can’t all be in New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras, but the Elmore County Humane Society in Alabama has its own Mardi Gras tradition today.
People and their pets are invited to dress in costumes and join the “Mardi Paws Krew” (or Khrew as our buddy Khyra would say) to revel in a mile long parade.
For a chance to get exercised and do a little butt sniffing, most dogs should be glad to put up with a costume.
This guy looks like he could make it as a Saint, (an NFL Saint, not the other one).

I wonder how their humans show up to this parade? It would've been hilarious to see this NFL fan and his parent both in a costume! Wondering where they keep their beads? On their tails?

i bet animals that get dressed up by their humans really hate them.

We had our huge Pet Parade in St. Louis last weekend and we had to miss it as we were out of town. What a bummer as it is a fabulous event to take part in. Today is our regular Mardi Gras and I'm sure it is rocking down in Soulard. Too cold for us....Hudson and Mary Jo

You didn't say where this parade took place but my wife and I were at a Mardi Gras parade with dogs when we were in Alabama right about this time a few years ago. The dogs really enjoyed it, if I recall. And they threw beads too. I remember one set of beads was hurled aloft and spiraled downward, clobbering an unsuspecting elderly lady standing in front of me.
Ooops, proofreading back here, I didn't mean to imply that the dogs threw beads. It was their masters and other humans in the parade.
