People sometimes do amazing things to protect or rescue their dogs, like risking their own lives. Is it courage? Stupidity? Or just reflex?
I’ve written previously about a woman who faced down an angry otter, a man who took on a crocodile and another who challenged a mountain lion to protect their dogs.
Then there was the crazy woman in California who stopped four lanes of traffic because her Poodle was frolicking in the street.
Oh, wait, that was me. Nevermind.
Greg LeNoir, a 53-year-old man from Florida, was horrified to see a shark’s mouth chomping down on his 14-pound dog, Jake. As he watched, Jake’s body and one leg disappeared into the mouth of the shark.
LeNoir conquered his fears, or perhaps acting without much thought to the consequences dove into the water and hit the back of the shark’s neck with his fist. He said, “It was like hitting concrete.”
Luckily for whatever reason, the shark (not being nature’s most brilliant species) decided not to have Jake (or LeNoir) as an entrée. It let go of Jake who popped up and frantically swam to shore with LeNoir following.
Jake suffered punctures and lacerations, but the veterinarian expects him to make a full recovery. The story and slide show

I think I would have gone to extraordinary lengths if Maudie had ever been in more danger than getting a well deserved swat from the neighbors cat. Lord I miss that little dog.

I love the happy ending. He would've felt terrible if he had stood there I watched his pup eaten by the shark.

See....my dog would have died....but, then i would never have been near the water with even my husband because I can't swim. I saw this on TV....amazing story. Brave Man.

He is either brilliantly brave or really stupid, I cant decide. It made me think though. What would I do? I suffer from Selachophobia and I think witnessing that would have absolutely given me a heart attack. I dont know what I would have been able to do. Heart attack comes to mind, literally. I am glad it had a happy ending though.

Reflex. Our bodies go into action before our heads have time to think about it. Kind of a good thing, I think.

Now that is just too cool, and I am not talking about the crazy lady from CA. But, she could be cool too, in her own crazy way.
