In Michigan, Napoleon, a two-year-old Bulldog walking with his owner suddenly bolted and jumped into a lake. Soon he emerged with a burlap sack. Napoleon’s owner, Alexandra Breuer, expected to find a bag full of garbage.
Imagine her surprise when she heard mewing from inside the sack. Napoleon had rescued four kittens that someone apparently tried to kill by throwing them into the water.
You might think this would earn Napoleon a couple of sirloins, but like many Bulldogs, Napoleon has a weight problem and is currently on a diet. His owner says he’s still her champion, but Napoleon would probably rather have a food reward. Source.
And in Scotland a very different drowning victim was rescued. A thief, Glen Lyon, was chased by police officers before jumping into a river to escape.
As he was struggling to stay afloat, a police dog was sent in after him. The dog helped pull him through the strong currents until he grabbed a tree. Then a female police officer jumped in and pulled him to the bank of the river.
Lyons was out on bail after previous convictions for burglary. He was ordered to undergo drug testing. Chances are, he didn't buy a steak for the dog either. Source.
