Pet dog kept alive by Viagra

Viagra_dogAnd this just in from the Northampton Chronicle:

Leslie Strong of Yardley Hastings says that the drug Viagra, has given her dog Talisker "a new lease on life."

OK, it's not what you may be imagining.

Talisker, a three year old Border Collie, passes out whenever he gets excited because of an enlarged heart that developed from a lung infection. His heart can't pump the blood fast enough around his body.

So "a leading animal cardiac specialist" suggested that the little blue Viagra pill might work to keep him alive.

Ms. Strong was "very surprised when we were recommended Viagra."  Duh.

Viagra seems to improve the blood flow to his heart and he is "happy and healthy." It keeps him alive, but it can't cure him. She does get a lot of giggles when she has the prescription filled for him.

You can read the rest here.

I'm just wondering what kind of pervert google hits I'll get on this post.

does it make him hump your leg for 4 hours?

Viagra? Really?

My dog takes viagra, too, she has pulmonary fibrosis.. and I swear she has more pep and energy. She is 14 years old, a toy poodle, and the drug is keeping her alive. But hers is liquid viagra, chicken flavored .. she loves it... get it at a compounding pharmacy...

I used to work in a drug store and feel weird when old men get their Viagara prescriptions, but my boss told me they take it for health reasons...

now dogs too? This is a new one, for sure!

Poor Talisker. Glad to hear that the little blue pill is working its magic.

OMG I can't imagine how much that must cost them to buy a 30 day supply!

I'm glad for this woman and her dog. We would've gladly paid for any prescription to buy our German shepherd Dax more time. Unfortunatley, a simple pill wasn't enough to keep her alive.

I could make some tasteless remark about "give the dog a bone". But I won't.

Hey, Jan. What did I say that couldn't be edited out? Where is my educational background story?
