At one time I lived in a snow belt near the Great Lakes. Digging out cars and traversing the roadways provided perils enough without strapping boards on my feet and plummeting down a snowy slope.
Now I live in an area that hasn’t had snow since 1960. I didn’t live here then, but I hear it was a day when No-Work-Was-Done. Children and adults streamed outside to observe this wonder of nature that many had never seen except on the distant snow capped peaks of the Sierra Mountains.
Where it belongs.
My dogs are not exactly suited to be sled dogs. They are more inclined to ride in the sled, observe from the porch, curl up in front of a fire until spring.
But when the Winter Olympics or the Iditarod comes around, my Walter Mitty side comes out.
In my Secret Life I want to go for the gold. I want to soar. I want to plunge down the slope at the outer bounds of control. I want to become one with my racing team of canines. I want to mush through the frozen wilderness to bring serum to the children.

I'm waiting for the warm snow too. Right now I'm enduring some of the cold crap.

I don't think there is any such thing as warm snow. That would just be water!!! But we like water.. Ya...

Yea, as for the warm snow....that happens when it is 38 outside and the snow is falling like a blizzard at warp speed.....oh, wait, that's what it is doing right now here.

Definitely one of my favorite stories. I'm a NASCAR driver when my life isn't pockata-pockata.

I've just been catching up, Jan...lots of good hints in those posts for me!
Snow here in the Cariboo is disappearing quickly as the days warm; it is still -10C at night however, so you might not want to visit anytime soon, lol!

I feel the same way when I watch 'Deadliest Catch'..You know, the guys that go crab fishing in Alaska.
I know I could do it if I had enough hot cocoa!

What a great story... I was completely unfamiliar with it. I could so see Danny Kaye staring in the title role.

hehehehe, here, people are calling snow rather insulting names as they are rather sick of it. we just got another foot or so today. The sun is starting to shine through, but it's the first time since this morning. I'm going to take Lou out to shovel, soon. I was waiting for the snow to stop. I hate shovelling then a few minutes later, you can't even tell where the steps are...

Wow, I love the secret life of Walter Mitty.....I haven't heard that name in a while...

No snow? I'd be more than willing to send some down your way. Apparently, we're getting a shipment in today, so we'll have lots of inventory.
