Totally amazing dogs. I don't think most people realize all that is involved in training them.

I cant imagine raising a puppy and giving it away. What a beautiful thing thes people do.

I thought $20,000 sounded like an awful lot but now that you've explained the entire process it makes sense to me.

Thanks for the information.

I think that the guide dog program is great and is a wonderful thing to the blind people.

Hi, I am a guide dog raiser in Seattle, WA. The puppy I am currently raising is named Shep. I love your blog and I love reading about other raisers' experiences. I also have a website where I sell pet supplies and i have a blog on it also about guide dogs. I built the site to try and help raise money for guide dogs and other animal charities.

Its a wonderful service. I particularly love seeing dogs in hospitals. Brings a real joy to the patients who need a little puppy love.

Guide dogs are fantastic and there is plenty of demand. The intensive training takes so much time and labor that it isn't possible to train them any faster. I'm glad to see that an old government facility near me is being used now for training German Shepherds as service dogs and guide dogs.

Training German Shepherds for the joy of it

I think it's just amazing the things we can train animals to do.Dogs are truely our best friends.
